Women's Empowerment Principles – WEPs

We are the first hotel in the country to be a signatory to the Women's Empowerment Principles platform and the HeforShe movement, initiatives by UN Women and the UN Global Compact.


Movement created by UN Women, with the purpose of addressing the theme of gender equity and female empowerment.

Women’s Empowerment Principles

1 – Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality.

2 – Treat all men and women fairly at work – respect and support human rights and non-discrimination.

3 – Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all workers.

4 – Promote the education, training and professional development of women.

5 – Implement business development and supply chain and marketing practices that empower women.

6 – Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy.

7 – Mediate and publish progress towards gender equality.

Em prática

Creation of the #HeForShe movement by UN Women, with a view to addressing gender equity and women's empowerment, promoting reflection on men's responsibility for eliminating discriminatory forms and acts of violence against women. Actress Emma Watson becomes project ambassador.
Major celebrities now support and adhere to the cause, showing women's responsibility and their leading role. The action was responsible for increasing #HeForShe's visibility and expression worldwide.
Brazilian personalities lead the campaign to support the movement and increase its visibility in the country. The government of Brasília becomes a signatory of the project, implementing its actions in the administrative management of the Federal District, alerting everyone about the responsibility of men to combat discrimination against women.
The Hotel Terras Altas is the first signatory hotel of the Weps and has joined the #HeforShe movement. The company, which already has four women in leadership positions, is now moving towards gender equity in every instance of the business.
The marketing team begins the construction of the goal plan and prepares the work schedule.
The cycle of meetings and talks with staff begins. The goal is to align the staff with the new value chain and embed the hotel into a local and global United Nations network. The first theme addressed was diversity and inclusion with the speaker Silvia Tyrola.
